*Temper Armor Plates

Select to Heat Temper your steel armor plates to Add more toughness. Your armor will be heated to 700 degrees, making it more resilient and less likely to dent or break upon hard impacts. Best for Martial Arts Training, LARP & SCA Sports.

*Crest Options

Select to change, customize or remove the front crest (maedate) on the helmet. You can select a standard brass mon (symbol), your own custom mon / logo or a wooden or brass design. *Kabuto Color

Select the Color & Finish for your kabuto (top section of helmet).

*Shikoro Color

Select the Color & Finish for your Shikoro (Neck Guard). (You can change the BOTTOM PLATE using "Advanced Custom Options" below.)

*Main Lace Color

Select the Main Lace Color (odoshi) you would like for your Shikoro (neck) and Tare (throat) guard to be. (You can customize your lace patterns by using the "Advanced Custom Options" below.)

*Rivet Option

Select if you would like your helmet to be smooth or have raised rivets.

Mask Options

Menpo Style

Select your choice of face armor available for your yoroi. Standard and Ressei Menpo option will give you nose and mustache options. Henpo and Hoate are without nose option.

Menpo Color

Select the Color & Finish of your Menpo (Face Armor).

Tare Color

Select the main Color and Finish you want your menpo's Tare (Throat guard). You can make the bottom plate a different color by using the "Advanced Custom Options" below.

Mustache Style

Add character to your armor by selecting a custom mustache option.(This option is only available with certain mask / nose styles.)

Beard Options

Add character to your Henpo or Hoate with a Goatee Beard. Cut the beard to your desired length.

Nose Style

Add more character to your armor set by changing the nose to a Tengu (bird's) nose.

Ornamental Options

Visor Options

Customize the visor of your helmet with embosed eyebrows and/or wrinkles.

Ring Option

Add a Kasa Jirushi no Kan (ring with tassel) to the back of a helmet with an Agemaki Bow (a specially knotted cord).

Trim Options

Select this option to add a metal trim (fukurin) around the outer edges of your helmet. This option might differ depending on model and/or different options selected.

Fukigaeshi Mons

Add a symbol (mon) to the ears (fukigaeshi) of your helmet. This can be a standard mon or custom design you can email us in "Clip-Art" format. (Click through the product images to see different Standard Mon Options.)

Ponytail Options

Add a horse or yak ponytail to the top of your helmet. This option might differ depending on model and/or different options selected.

Antler & Horns

Select to add Dear Antlers, Water Buffalo Horns, Wooden Horns or Waki-Date (Flat Wooden Horns) to your kabuto.

Display Options

Select to receive your kabuto with the Standard, Deluxe or Iki-Nigyo.

Shikoro Bottom Plate

If you would like to change the color of the BOTTOM PLATE of your Shikoro, you may select it here. If not it will match the option your provided above in Shikoro Color.

Shikoro Horizontal Lace

Select the Lace Color along the lower Horizontal Hanging Plates of the Shikoro (neck) and/or Tare (throat).

Shikoro Vertical Lace

This option changes the color lace (odoshi) is used along the outer bottom edge of the neck guard

Shikoro Mimi-Ito Lace

Add an extra row of lacing to your shikoro (neck guard) for an addtional cost. If left blank it may match your MAIN LACE option selected above.

Tare Bottom Plate

Select the Color & Finish of your Tare Bottom Plate (Suso no ita).

Tare Lace Color

Select the Lace (odoshi) Color you would like for your Menpo. (Options to lace specific armor parts are also available in the options below.)

Tare Horizontal Lace

Select the Lace Color used for the Horizontal Lace for your Tare. (This is different from the mimi-ito.)

Description

Zunari Hachi Kabuto is crafted by our Gashira class armorers to simulate the traditional 3 plate zunari design, which forms the hachi (bowl) section of the kabuto and then hand cut each plate for the shikoro. It has a 3 plate design which gives the traditional zunari or “head-shape” look. The shikoro is then hand laced in odoshi sugake (simple hang) with care, using the color odoshi (lace) of your choice. The ukebari (helmet lining) is then carefully fitted to the inside of the hachi (bowl of helmet) to finish the kabuto.

Your choice of mengu (facial armor) can be selected to be crafted with this kabuto. Iron Mountain Armory armorers are happy to customize your zunari kabuto with any of the options listed. A perfect kabuto for an ashigaru to mid-ranking samurai.

Overall quality is fantastic, you do not have to worry about the size of your head as it has plenty of space and tightens through the cords. Not heavy at all and is very sturdily built. Highly recommend.
