This striking Gashira Class Armor has been crafted in tribute to Yamamoto Kansuke (山本 勘助, 1501 – 1561). Kansuke was a Taisho samurai of the Sengoku Period who was known as one of the “Twenty-Four Generals of Takeda Shingen“. A very loyal and remarkable strategist, he is remembered for his victorious strategy in the Forth Battle of Kawanakajima against their rival, Uesugi Kenshin. Takeda and Kenshi would fight five battles with the forth being a decisive victory for Takeda in which Kansuke was credited for. However, Kansuke never lived to see this triumph. Thinking his plan would be unsuccessful and risk failing his lord, he charged headlong into the enemy ranks, dying a glorious warrior’s death and securing the Takeda victory. Much like Kansuke’s own armor, our armor smiths crafted this yoroi set with a hachi zunari kabuto and okegawa do. The kabuto is adorned with natural water buffalo horns to personify his prowess on the battlefield. His steadfast devotion and fearlessness when charging into battle. This is one of our most popular samurai armor sets and when you have it displayed in your home or wearing it, you will know why! Also available in Kachi and Taisho class.
