T13 – Tsuno Oni Samurai
In this edition, we are personifying the mythical Tsuno Oni or “Horned Demon“. This premium Tsuno Oni yoroi features a handcrafted and historically accurate Byo-toji Yokohagi Okegawa Do (chest armor). It also comes with Byo-toji Momonari kabuto (helmet), O-Tengu (removable bird nose) and real buffalo horns. The fine detail of the kebiki-odoshi style lacing (also referred to as “full lacing”) can be found on the shikoro (neck plating), sode (shoulder guards) and kasuzari (defensive skirt plating).
Even when crafting a yoroi to personify a mythical creature, our Taisho class samurai armor smith will use the most traditional methods with the most traditional tools and materials as possible. We are happy to customize the style of kabuto (helmet) , menpo (mask) and suneate (shin guards). We can also change the lace or paint color and add any additional options available on the drop down menus to customize your premium quality yoroi.
Features: Taisho Class quality.
- Full sized and fully functional.
- Variation of paint, art silk odoshi colors and traditional features.
- Includes display box and stand.
Our skilled katchû-shi (armorers) at the Iron Mountain Armory will need at least 8 to 10 weeks, depending on options selected, and other scheduled orders, for the custom handcrafting of your samurai armor set. |

I took 2 days to look at the armor from every side to form my own opinion and that is the conclusion I have come to.
I myself have many years of sewing-experience, but the armor is made in such a qualitatively outstanding way, that even I am baffled. The workmanship of the armor is the highest I have ever witnessed.
I have send (almost) every measurement of my body to the Iron Mountain Armory team so that the armor would fit me ideally and even the kote (arm sleeves) are fitting me PERFECTLY; my arm length is (way) above average 😉
BUT exactly here is my problem: sadly I have measured my chest size in a wrong way and picked one size (112 cm) above the one I should have picked (106 cm). Now my Do (breastplate) is too large so I have too much space inside of it, so effectively i can’t move in it as good as I should be supposed to.
So to the person who is reading this, when you are measuring your chest size, really make sure to read the description on how to measure your chest size and make sure, that the tape-measure is snug on your chest (+5 cm).
So you can follow my thoughts: I made the mistake to leave (just) a little bit of space from my chest to the tape, so I thought my chest circumference would be 104 cm, +5 cm I would be at 109 cm and so I picked the next larger chest-size which was 112 cm, which I now know, was too big for me.
When I measured my chest circumference again today with a snug measurement-tape, I was at 102 cm, +5 cm I would be at 107 cm, so I should have picked 106 cm chest-circumference.
But as I have already stated, it was my mistake and one will get EXACTLY what one buys.
One more thing one can do, is to send the head-circumference, because in my case of having a large head, the helm presses me on the forehead when I push the helmet forward.
If I could give more than 5 stars, I definitely would.
