Sengoku Momonari Kabuto is a Gendai (modern) Taisho class, “peach shaped” kabuto specially crafted by the Iron Mountain Armory after an original piece from the late Sengoku Era (Warring States). The momonari kabuto design was inspired by the visiting Spanish due to the need to develop “bullet proof” armor. This new design indeed helped deflect the bullets from the new muskets which appeared on the battlefield after the arrival of the Portuguese and Spanish. The Momonari Kabuto became well known for its abilities on the battlefield during the Campaign of Korea (1592-98) on Kyushu Island.
We craft this Sengoku Momonari Kabuto by hand hammering 5 steel plates into shape and riveting them together, making their iconic “peach shape”. Our taisho katchû-shi (Japanese armor smith) will use their skills to craft it with the most traditional methods possible. They are happy to customize it per your request. Taisho class armor is robust for any battlefield and makes a fine addition to any gallery. We recommended ordering this kabuto with a hoata mengu (opened face armor)
