Sarashi Belt – Stock Item – White Cotton – Sold As Seen.
The Sarashi Belt, or torso wrapping, was traditionally worn to hold the Do firmly around the torso and weapons securely to the Do as well. If need it could be used as a battle field dressing as well. Like the obi, a sarashi consists of a length of thick cotton, wrapped around just above the bottom of the Do holding it in place so the watagami (shoulder plates) are lifted about 2 cm above the shoulder, placing the weight of the Do from directly onto the waist. Female samurai in Feudal Japan would also wear a sarashi to bind their breasts, making it easier and more comfortable to don and wear their armor. The sarashi is an important accessory needed while wearing samurai armor or with our Yoroi Hitatare, to fasten your katana, tanto and/or other accessories.
