*Crest Options

Select to change, customize or remove the front crest (maedate) on the helmet. You can select a standard brass mon (symbol), your own custom mon / logo or a wooden or brass design. *Number of Plates

This option is available for Suji-Bachi Style Helmets, and allows you to chose how many plates are used to craft the “bowl” section of your helmet. The Standard Option is “Simulated” which means the helmet bowl will be crafted from a single sheet of steel and made to look like it is crafted from several pieces.

*Kabuto Color

Select the Color & Finish for your kabuto (top section of helmet).

*Shikoro Color

Select the Color & Finish for your Shikoro (Neck Guard). (You can change the BOTTOM PLATE using "Advanced Custom Options" below.)

*Main Lace Color

Select the Main Lace Color (odoshi) you would like for your Shikoro (neck) and Tare (throat) guard to be. (You can customize your lace patterns by using the "Advanced Custom Options" below.)

*Kabuto Rivet Option

Select if you would like your helmet to be smooth or have raised rivets.

*Upgrade My Armor

For Taisho class armor, we offer an Upgrade option. This option increase the thickness of the steel plating by .2mm, plus tempering! Your armor will be ever more durable, battle ready & a little heavier.

*Mockup (Picture Simulation)

Select to receive a Digital Picture Mockup (Simulation) of your order. We will email you a Mockup for your review before we start crafting your item. You can Approve or request Changes before we start crafting your item.

Menpo Options

*Menpo Style

Select your choice of face armor available for your yoroi. Standard and Ressei Menpo option will give you nose and mustache options. Henpo and Hoate are without nose option. For more detailed images, please review the Menpo (Mask) category.

*Menpo Color

Select the Color & Finish of your Menpo (Face Armor).

*Tare Color

Select the main Color and Finish you want your menpo's Tare (Throat guard). You can make the bottom plate a different color by using the "Advanced Custom Options" below.

*Mustache Style

Add character to your armor by selecting a custom mustache option.(This option is only available with certain mask / nose styles.)

*Beard Options

Add character to your Henpo or Hoate with a Goatee Beard. Cut the beard to your desired length.

*Nose Style

Add more character to your armor set by changing the nose to a Tengu (bird's) Nose or an O-Tengu Nose.

Ornamental Options

Leather Options

Add EGAWA (printed leather) to the visor and ears of your helmet.

*Kawa Fukurin

Select the Trim Material around the edge of the Visor and Fukigaeshi.
Required if EGAWA is selected.

Ring Option

Add a Kasa Jirushi no Kan (ring with tassel) to the back of a helmet with an Agemaki Bow (a specially knotted cord).

Visor Options

Customize the visor of your helmet with embosed eyebrows and/or wrinkles.

Fukigaeshi Mons

Add a symbol (mon) to the ears (fukigaeshi) of your helmet. This can be a standard mon or custom design you can email us in "Clip-Art" format. (Click through the product images to see different Standard Mon Options.)

Ponytail Style

Add a horse or yak ponytail to the top of your helmet. This option might differ depending on model and/or different options selected.

Trim Options

Select this option to add a metal trim (fukurin) around the outer edges of your helmet. This option might differ depending on model and/or different options selected.

Display Options

Select to receive your kabuto with the Standard, Deluxe or Iki-Nigyo.

Shikoro Horizontal Lace

Select the Lace Color along the lower Horizontal Hanging Plates of the Shikoro (neck) and/or Tare (throat).

Shikoro Vertical Lace

This option changes the color lace (odoshi) is used along the outer bottom edge of the neck guard

Shikoro Mimi-Ito Lace

Add an extra row of lacing to your shikoro (neck guard) for an addtional cost. If left blank it may match your MAIN LACE option selected above.

Tare Bottom Plate

Select the Color & Finish of your Tare Bottom Plate (Suso no ita).

Tare Main Lace

This option changes the Color Lace (odoshi) used for your throat guard of the mask and will replace the “MAIN LACE COLOR” option if changed.

Tare Horizontal Lace

This option changes what color lace (odoshi) used on the lower lace that runs along the bottom plate of the throat guard. This is different from the mimi-ito.

Tare Vertical Lace

Select to change the Vertical Trim Lace for your Tare. (This is different from the Mimi-Ito.)

Tare Mimi-Ito Lace

Add an extra row of lacing to your tare (thoat guard) for an addtional cost. If left blank it may match your MAIN LACE option selected above.

Description

Kumi-gashira Hari-Bachi Kabuto is a Taisho Class bowl-style helmet crafted with multiple plates of steel, meticulously shaped by hand to join with the next plate; forming the shape of a bowl. The Hari Bachi kabuto features raised ridges or “ribs” showing where the helmet plates join together and features a smooth finis. This particular hari-bachi, we call Kumi-Gashira (mid ranking samurai – Lieutenant). It features a fukurin (decorative metal trim) and is adorned with a yak to symbolize the saihai (commander’s baton) used to direct troops. The Kumi-Gashira would dictate the orders of the Taisho (general) to his troops and move them as if by the hand of his lord.

You can order your Kumi-Gashira Hari-Bachi Kabuto with your choice of mengu (facial armor). The menpo (half face with nose – as pictured) is the most iconic style of mengu. The hanbo (lower face), was armor that simply protected the samurais cheeks and chin from the rope ties of the kabuto, leaving his face open to easily shout commands to his troops and not restrict his view or breathing.
