G104 – Kiritsuke Iyo-zane Yoroi
Kiritsuke Iyo-zane Gashira Yoroi, this impressive Gashira class samurai armor is crafted by our senior Gashira katchû-shi (Japanese armor smith) at Iron Mountain Armory. This samurai yoroi features a Kiritsuke Iyo-zane Okegawa Do, a “tosei” (post 1550 modern). It reflected the classical “kozane” design armor which used thousands of individual scale plates. These were laced together to form a flexible armor that could wrap around the warrior.
This tosei design utilizes simulated scale plates. They are embossed along a single plate of steel which are laced together to form the 2 piece chest armor. Then it is bound together using a pin-hinge, known as an Okegawa do. The Kiritsuke Iyo-zane yoroi was commonly used by high-ranking samurai warriors.
Our senior Gashira katchû-shi has elected to use a more robust kote (armored sleeve) and haidate (armored apron), that has kusari (chain-mail) between the plating. This allows the thigh armor to mold and wrap around the warrior’s legs better. These two small details make this samurai armor set more authentic in detail. It is a style which a wealthy samurai would have likely designed for himself.

- Full sized and fully functional.
- Variation of paint, high quality cotton odoshi colors and traditional features.

Our skilled katchû-shi (armorers) at the Iron Mountain Armory will need at least 6 to 8 weeks, depending on options selected, and other scheduled orders, for the custom handcrafting of your samurai armor set. |

(The pictures with the red lace is my armor.) I am in love with my Suit of Armor. I do not take part in any re-enactment/ full contact duals so my armor is merely for display and occasional dress up. I got the more expensive Taisho class for an extra $400 and I’m very pleased with the choice. I’m 5’10” so I had to spend a little extra to have it made in my size, but they got it just right. The armor fits great. I was very happy they even threw in a pair of Waraji and Tabi Socks because I was worried about what type of shoes to wear with it. (though this might have just been a free gift only for Me due to me spending so much already). Once my Katana I’m having made with another company arrives, I will have the full outfit to make everyone jealous. If you love Japanese culture, and you have the money to spare, you will not regret buying one of these amazing Suits of Armor. In my life, I have a beautiful conversation piece of art; but for my kids, they will have a beautiful inheritance.
As the review above, I had this same armor made for myself and it is just phenomenal! The personal and reliably fast communication by the staff when answering questions and helping me figure out what I wanted and what worked best for me and keeping me updated cannot be matched by anyone else in this business I doubt. Worth every dime! Thanks!
