We have created this beautiful custom sogonari style kabuto in honor of the Year of the Fire Monkey. The Kasai Saru Kabuto (火猴 – Fire Monkey Samurai Helmet) is a one-of-a-kind kabuto, completely handcrafted using real hair (うま). It is created featuring a hoate (open face armor), okotta mayu (brows) and shiwa gaku (wrinkled forehead), and is then painted red and gold. This gives it the very distinct look of a fire monkey. Our Kasai Saru kabuto requires over 50 hours of dedicated crafting time spread over 30 days, so please allow 45 to 60 days for delivery from date of purchase.
This Sogonari Kabuto(haired helmet style) is from the Momoyama Period (1573–1615). It is crafted using horse hair which has been meticulously glued and layered onto the dome of the kabuto. The mabezashi peak is a muromachi style. As we mentioned previously, it is quite intricate and time-consuming to make and, making it a quite a rare reproduction samurai Kasai Saru kabuto.
