Etchû Zunari are crafted exactly like the Hineno Zunari but with the central plate going over the mabisashi (visor). This change of the center plate overlapping the mabisashi is more fashion then functional and doesn’t detract from the robust design of the Hineno zunari. The Taisho katchû-shi (armor smith) has crafted this beautiful, traditional Etchû Zunari Kabuto. It was formed by hand cutting and riveting 3 different plates to create the hachi (inner bowl of the helmet) section of the kabuto and then hand cut each plate for the shikoro (neck guard). The hineno-jikoro style shikoro is then hand laced in odoshi sugake (simple hang lace), with all the care and attention to detail expected from a Taisho quality yoroi. The ukebari (helmet lining) is then carefully fitted to the inside of the hachi to finish the kabuto. The mayu (eye brows), seen on the mabisashi add character and can be added for an extra charge.
You can also order your Hineno Zunari Bachi kabuto with your preference of mengu (facial armor), menpo (half face with nose) or hanbo (lower face). The traditional Name for this style of kabuto is: “Hineno-Jikoro Hineno Zunari Bachi”
