*Kabuto Style

*Number of Plates

This option is available for Suji-Bachi Style Helmets, and allows you to chose how many plates are used to craft the “bowl” section of your helmet. The Standard Option is “Simulated” which means the helmet bowl will be crafted from a single sheet of steel and made to look like it is crafted from several pieces.

*Leather Options

Select the Leather Color and/or Egawa (pattern) used of your armor parts. (Haidate (armored apron), Light or Medium Suneate (shin armor))

*Kabuto Leather

Select the STYLE OF KABUTO (helmet) for your Armor. Please click the "ORDER OPTIONS EXPLAINED" link at the bottom left of the page for more details. To keep the standard style for this model armor leave pre-selected option "As Seen".

*Fukigaeshi Style

Select between Small or Large fukigaeshi (ears) for your kabuto.

*Kabuto Crest

Select to change, customize or remove the front crest (maedate) on the helmet. You can select a standard brass mon (symbol), your own custom mon / logo or a wooden or brass design. *Fitting Options

ADD or REMOVE decor fittings, rings and tassels.

*Display Options

Select to upgrade your standard black lacquer Yoroi Bitsu (storage box & stand) to a natural lacquer Deluxe Bitsu with "dove tailed" joints.

*Yoroi Bitsu Mon

Choose to add Samurai or Custom Mon (symbol) to your Yoroi Bitsu (armor box). Custom Mon's needs to be e-mailed to us in a mono-color, “Clip-Art” format.(Click through the product images to see different Standard Mon Options.)

Kabuto Options

Select these options to further customize your Kabuto (helmet).

Fukigaeshi Mon

Add a symbol (mon) to the ears (fukigaeshi) of your helmet. This can be a standard mon or custom design you can email us in "Clip-Art" format. (Click through the product images to see different Standard Mon Options.)

Antler & Horn Options

Select to add Dear Antlers, Water Buffalo Horns, Wooden Horns or Waki-Date (Flat Wooden Horns) to your kabuto.

RING OPTION

Add a Kasa Jirushi no Kan (ring with tassel) to the back of a helmet with an Agemaki Bow (a specially knotted cord).

Visor Option

Customize the visor of your helmet with embosed eyebrows and/or wrinkles.

*Menpo Style

Select your choice of face armor available for your yoroi. Standard and Ressei Menpo option will give you nose and mustache options. Henpo and Hoate are without nose option.

Mustache Style

Add character to your armor by selecting a custom mustache option.(This option is only available with certain mask / nose styles.)

Beard Style

Add a "Soul Patch" beard to the top chin (below lip) of my Hanbo or Hoate.

Mustache Color

Select the color you would like your mustache to be.

Chest Options

Select from the following options to further customize your Do (chest armor).

Shoulder Padding

Select the material color used for your shoulder padding (Tate-Eri).

Select the Mon (symbol) to be painted on the front of your Dō (chest plate).(Option Not Available with Suna finish)

Dō Chest Ring

Select to add 1 or 2 Chest Rings (Saihai no kan & Tenugui no kan) to your Dō, used to display tassels or hold a saihai or gunbai. (Select option from the perspective of wearing the armor)

Dō Holding Rings

Add 1 or 2 WAIST RINGS (holding rings) to either side of your Dō (chest plate), used to hold bags, tie a weapon, Gunbai and/or your Sarashi in place. We recommend adding both if you are training in your armor. (Select option from the perspective of wearing the armor)

Add Banner Holder

Add a Banner Holder (Machi-Uke) to the back of your Gashira or Kachi Dō (chest armor) so you can attach a Sashimono (war banner) to your armor set. (Add Optional Wooden Banner Base)

Kusazuri Option

This option offers to make your kuzazuri (skirt plate) detachable / interchangeable. Commonly used in the past for fast repair / replacement of the kuzazuri, or removable for fast and quiet movement of troops.

Sizing Options

The Sizing Options for your custom samurai armor set.

Chest Sizing

This option changes the girth size of your Dō (chest armor). While inhaling deeply, have an assistant wrap the tape measure under your armpits around the largest part of your chest. In the back, you want the tape measure to wrap across your shoulder blades. The tape measure should be snug, but not tight.

Please Note: Sizing is for reference only and may not reflect the final product. Please read the FAQs for more details.

Height Options

Adjust the armor to your Height. Standard sizing is 5' 8" (175 CM). Select the option closest to your actual height. If unsure, select 1 size smaller and enter your actual size in the order comments.

Weight Options

Please select the option that is closest to your weight or next weight level greater, so our armorers can better fit your armor to your body size.

Accessory Options

Select accessories to add to your custom samurai armor order.

Sarashi Belt

Add a long cloth belt used to hold your dō firmly in place for a more comfortable with and to hold weapons and other accessories to your waist.

Waraji Sandals

Add Straw Sandals to your order

Extra Customization Options

Gashira (Officer): Expertly handmade with quality materials and good attention to detail. Crafting Time: 25 to 35 Days. Materials Used: Bowl style kabuto, steel construction, traditional brocade, hemp, quality cotton, brass, copper fittings with genuine leather & and some synthetic materials might be used. (materials may differ depending on model) Our “Gashira Class” yoroi are the next step up from our “Kachi Class.” Each suit is handcrafted by our experienced katchû-shi (armor smith) at the Iron Mountain Armory. Our craftsman will use quality materials and traditional crafting methods with some modern techniques, tools and advancements in design. Much like the Taisho Class, each suit has been heavily researched, and a lot of care is put into their historical accuracy. The principle difference between the Gashira-class and Taisho-class, is that the Gashira Class is crafted with the practical bowl-style kabuto (simulated laminate) and some other machine stamped parts. Gashira class also feature some small modern design enhancements (like adding grommets and spot welding) to make the armor more robust and easier to main. Our Gashira Class samurai armor is made specifically for collectors, exhibitions, re-enactors and martial artists, who want an authentic “Gendai” samurai suit of armor without the added expenses of the more traditional design and hand crafting methods found in our Taisho class. The Gashira class features a more traditional Gendai design over kachi class and include features such as, real animal hair, genuine leather, removable or interchangeable nose, brass fittings, shoulder padding with kikko (armor plating), traditional butted mail, opposable thumbs, leg / waist support on haidate, extra materials, fittings, riveting, grommets, extra lacing options and included armor storage / display box (yoroi bitsu) with stand. The attention to detail is a big step up from Kachi class, however, due to handcrafting of many parts there might be some blemishes that pass through our QC process. Although we work to avoid and fix blemishes / issues, through the QC process, they are a natural occurrence of handcrafting. Taisho class suits will have fewer (if any) of these blemishes that occur due to high standards and level of detail when crafting and review.

Menpo Color

Select the Color & Finish of your Menpo (Face Armor).

Tare Color

Select the color & finish your Tare will be painted.

(This option should only be chosen if you would like the throat plates to be a different color than those of the mask.)

Tare Bottom Plate

Select the color & finish your Tare Bottom Plate (Suso no ita) will be painted.

(This option should only be chosen if you would like the throat plates to be a different color than those of the mask.)

Sode Color

Select the color & finish your Sode will be painted.

Description

Egawa Okegawa Gusoku is a regal Gashira Class samurai yoroi crafted by our more senior katchû-shi (Japanese armor smith). The do features egawa (printed leather) on the muna-ita/oshitsuke-ita/waka-ita (upper plates). We offer several patterns options, in both white and Fusube Gawa (smoked brown) leather style. This style of do also has the optional fukurin (applied, decorative metal trim) along the edge of the plates for extra embellishment. You can also add a painted mon (symbol) on the chest.

This Gashira Class okegawa yokohagi do is a “tub sided” horizontal plated, 2 piece chest design, joined together with a hinge, making it a “clam-shell” style of armor. This style of do has horizontal, over-lapping plates that are riveted together, creating a very strong, shock absorbing, layered do. This design was more economical, comfortable, less maintenance and yet more reliable in battle than any previous designs. This is why the Okegawa yoroi had become the most common style of armor used by all levels of samurai and their ashigaru during the 16th century. The full name for this particular traditional do is: “Egawa no Yokohagi Okegawa Tosei Ni-Mai-Do Yoroi“

I have always dreamed of owning my very own samurai armor. After 2 years of saving I’ve finally purchased this set and I am soo happy I did. I saw the same set on a Japanese site for 3 times the price, but I have been following this armory for a while and their pictures and reviews are always great and now I see it for myself. The customer service was great too. Michael held my hand throughout the entire order process and even helped me with putting the armor on. Between the service and quality of armor, it made me feel like a real samurai born of nobility.
