Date Masamune’s Suji-Bachi Kabuto is a Taisho class samurai helmet crafted by the most skilled katchu-shi (Japanese armorer) at Iron Mountain Armory in honor of the famed military tactician and one of the most dominant Daimyo during the end of the Sengoku Era (warring states) through the early Edo Era (peaceful states). This iconic kabuto features 32 ken (individual overlapping plates), which creates this impressive suji-bachi kabuto, with adorned iconic large brass crescent moon maedate (crest) and carved out flower petal in the fukigaeshi (helmet ears). Historically Date masumen was known for his military strategies, and more commonly for his large crescent moon maedate (helmet crest). May be more notable due to his missing right eye, giving him the name dokuganryū (独眼竜), or the “One-Eyed Dragon of Ōshu”.
