Byo no Kogai Kanamono – Gashira are our mid-range quality brass decorative fittings used on the sode (shoulder guards). Rivets attache the decorative brass bar to the sode and hold the ring in place, towards the back of your sode. The mizu nomi no o (rope or cord) is passed through the kogai kanamono (ring) and ties to the back of the do (to the agemaki) or other mizu nomi no o. The Kogai Kanamono is not only decorative, but a functional and important part on the armor. The rings hold the cords which tie to the back or along the back of the armor to keep the sode from sliding forward during combat.
This set can be added to any of our sode using your hands or simple tools. Simply place the Kogai (ring) Kanamono (bar) in place over the sode and slide the byo (rivets) through the existing holes in the kogai kanamono and through the lacing holes behind, then secure in place by flattening the rivet stem behind. Sold as a set, to be used on one sode. If you would like to add a set to both sode, you will need to purchase 2 sets.
