*Crest Options

Select to change, customize or remove the front crest (maedate) on the helmet. You can select a standard brass mon (symbol), your own custom mon / logo or a wooden or brass design. *Number of Plates

This option is available for Suji-Bachi Style Helmets, and allows you to chose how many plates are used to craft the “bowl” section of your helmet. The Standard Option is “Simulated” which means the helmet bowl will be crafted from a single sheet of steel and made to look like it is crafted from several pieces.

*Fukigaeshi Style

Select between Small or Large fukigaeshi (ears) for your kabuto.

*Shikoro / Tare Plate Style

Select the style of Shikoro and Tare plating you would like for your kabuto and menpo

*Kabuto Color

Select the Color & Finish for your kabuto (top section of helmet).

*Shikoro Color

Select the Color & Finish for your Shikoro (Neck Guard). (You can change the BOTTOM PLATE using "Advanced Custom Options" below.)

*Main Lace Color

Select the Main Lace Color (odoshi) you would like for your Shikoro (neck) and Tare (throat) guard to be. (You can customize your lace patterns by using the "Advanced Custom Options" below.)

*Rivet Option

Select if you would like your helmet to be smooth or have raised rivets.

*Temper Armor Plates

Select to Heat Temper your steel armor plates to Add more toughness. Your armor will be heated to 700 degrees, making it more resilient and less likely to dent or break upon hard impacts. Best for Martial Arts Training, LARP & SCA Sports.

*Mockup (Picture Simulation)

Select to receive a Digital Picture Mockup (Simulation) of your order. We will email you a Mockup for your review before we start crafting your item. You can Approve or request Changes before we start crafting your item.

Menpo Options

Menpo Style

Select your choice of face armor available for your yoroi. Standard and Ressei Menpo option will give you nose and mustache options. Henpo and Hoate are without nose option.

Menpo Color

Select the Color & Finish of your Menpo (Face Armor).

Tare Color

Select the main Color and Finish you want your menpo's Tare (Throat guard). You can make the bottom plate a different color by using the "Advanced Custom Options" below.

Mustache Style

Add character to your armor by selecting a custom mustache option.(This option is only available with certain mask / nose styles.)

Nose Style

Add more character to your armor set by changing the nose to a Tengu (bird's) nose.

Beard Options

Add character to your Henpo or Hoate with a Goatee Beard. Cut the beard to your desired length.

Ornamental Options

*Leather Options

Add Leather or EGAWA (printed leather) to the visor and ears of your helmet.
If you would prefer to have leather / egawa on the ears or visor only, please request in it in the Order Notes while checking out.

*Kawa Fukurin

Select the Trim Material around the edge of the Visor and Fukigaeshi.
Required if EGAWA is selected.

*Trim Options

Select this option to add a metal trim (fukurin) around the outer edges of your helmet. This option might differ depending on model and/or different options selected.

Visor Options

Customize the visor of your helmet with embosed eyebrows and/or wrinkles.

Ring Option

Add a Kasa Jirushi no Kan (ring with tassel) to the back of a helmet with an Agemaki Bow (a specially knotted cord).

Fukigaeshi Mons

Add a symbol (mon) to the ears (fukigaeshi) of your helmet. This can be a standard mon or custom design you can email us in "Clip-Art" format. (Click through the product images to see different Standard Mon Options.)

Ponytail Options

Add a horse or yak ponytail to the top of your helmet. This option might differ depending on model and/or different options selected.

Antler & Horns

Select to add Dear Antlers, Water Buffalo Horns, Wooden Horns or Waki-Date (Flat Wooden Horns) to your kabuto.

Display Options

Select to receive your kabuto with the Standard, Deluxe or Iki-Nigyo.

Shikoro Horizontal Lace

Select the Lace Color along the lower Horizontal Hanging Plates of the Shikoro (neck) and/or Tare (throat).

Shikoro Vertical Lace

This option changes the color lace (odoshi) is used along the outer bottom edge of the neck guard

Shikoro Mimi-Ito Lace

Add an extra row of lacing to your shikoro (neck guard) for an addtional cost. If left blank it may match your MAIN LACE option selected above.

Tare Bottom Plate

Select the Color & Finish of your Tare Bottom Plate (Suso no ita).

Description

Gashira Suji-Bachi Kabuto is a “ridged” bowl-style helmet crafted with ken (multiple plates) of steel, meticulously shaped by hand to join with the next plate; forming the shape of a bachi (bowl). This Suji Bachi kabuto features raised ridges or “ribs” showing where the helmet plates join together. Iron Mountain Armory offers both laminated and simulated suji-bachi kabuto. Laminated suji-bachi will be crafted from individual steel plates, cut, shaped and riveted by hand to create the suji-bachi. Some spot welding may be used to help re-enforce the plating. Simulated suji-bachi will crafted with copper tubing to simulate the ridges, appearing like “So Fukurin” (Decorative moldings that fit over the raised ridges). The simulated “so fukurin” is typically painted over or can be left bare upon your request (request in Order Notes).

This particular Gashira class Suji-Bachi is pictured with the 18 Plate, kiritsuke kozane (Simulated Narrow Scale) shikoro (neck guard) and tare (throat guard), copper fukurin, and added Fukigaeshi Mons. However you can custom design your own Suji-Bachi Kabuto by using the many options available. The kabuto is embellished with cotton kebiki-odoshi style lacing (also referred to as “full lacing”). Any Gashira (NCO rank) samurai would certainly be honored to wear such a kabuto. You can order your Gashira Class suji-bachi kabuto with your preference of mengu (facial armor), menpo (half face with nose – pictured) with options mustache style or hanbo (lower face).

Love the kabuto, looks great on display in my room and even better when worn. The crafts put their heart and soul in the making and I couldn’t be happier. And any time I had a question or concern the IMA team was quick to respond and was very respectful. Excellent work.
