*Temper Armor Plates

Select to Heat Temper your steel armor plates to Add more toughness. Your armor will be heated to 700 degrees, making it more resilient and less likely to dent or break upon hard impacts. Best for Martial Arts Training, LARP & SCA Sports.

*Crest Options

Select to change, customize or remove the front crest (maedate) on the helmet. You can select a standard brass mon (symbol), your own custom mon / logo or a wooden or brass design. Select the Color & Finish for your kabuto (top section of helmet).

*Shikoro Color

Select the Color & Finish for your Shikoro (Neck Guard). (You can change the BOTTOM PLATE using "Advanced Custom Options" below.)

*Main Lace Color

Select the Main Lace Color (odoshi) you would like for your Shikoro (neck) and Tare (throat) guard to be. (You can customize your lace patterns by using the "Advanced Custom Options" below.)

*Rivet Option

Select if you would like your helmet to be smooth or have raised rivets.

Mask Options

Menpo Style

Select your choice of face armor available for your yoroi. Standard and Ressei Menpo option will give you nose and mustache options. Henpo and Hoate are without nose option.

Menpo Color

Select the Color & Finish of your Menpo (Face Armor).

Tare Color

Select the main Color and Finish you want your menpo's Tare (Throat guard). You can make the bottom plate a different color by using the "Advanced Custom Options" below.

Mustache Style

Add character to your armor by selecting a custom mustache option.(This option is only available with certain mask / nose styles.)

Beard Options

Add character to your Henpo or Hoate with a Goatee Beard. Cut the beard to your desired length.

Nose Style

Add more character to your armor set by changing the nose to a Tengu (bird's) nose.

Ornamental Options

Visor Options

Customize the visor of your helmet with embosed eyebrows and/or wrinkles.

Ring Option

Add a Kasa Jirushi no Kan (ring with tassel) to the back of a helmet with an Agemaki Bow (a specially knotted cord).

Trim Options

Select this option to add a metal trim (fukurin) around the outer edges of your helmet. This option might differ depending on model and/or different options selected.

Fukigaeshi Mons

Add a symbol (mon) to the ears (fukigaeshi) of your helmet. This can be a standard mon or custom design you can email us in "Clip-Art" format. (Click through the product images to see different Standard Mon Options.)

Ponytail Options

Add a horse or yak ponytail to the top of your helmet. This option might differ depending on model and/or different options selected.

Antler & Horns

Select to add Dear Antlers, Water Buffalo Horns, Wooden Horns or Waki-Date (Flat Wooden Horns) to your kabuto.

Shikoro Horizontal Lace

Select the Lace Color along the lower Horizontal Hanging Plates of the Shikoro (neck) and/or Tare (throat).

Shikoro Vertical Lace

This option changes the color lace (odoshi) is used along the outer bottom edge of the neck guard

Shikoro Mimi-Ito Lace

Add an extra row of lacing to your shikoro (neck guard) for an addtional cost. If left blank it may match your MAIN LACE option selected above.

Description

Momonari Hachi Kabuto (peach-shaped helmet) is inspired by helmets worn by European during the Momoyama Period (1575 – 1615). With the introduction of the teppo (muskets), brought to Japan by the Portuguese and Spanish, a new form of warfare emerged. Adapting to the change, katchû-shi (armor craftsmen) combined European armor design, with traditional Japanese armor crafting, creating the Momonari Kabuto. This new design made a more robust kabuto capable of deflecting musket fire while on the battlefield. The Momonari Kabuto became well known for its abilities on the battlefield during the “Campaign of Korea” (1592-98) on Kyushu Island.

The “Gashira class” katchû-shi (armor craftsmen) at Iron Mountain Armory craft this gendai (modern) Momonari Hachi Kabuto from a single steel plate, simulating 2 plates joined together. This creates the traditional “peach shaped” kabuto look at a more economical price. You can order this kabuto with your preference of mengu (facial armor), menpo (half face with nose – pictured) with various mustache styles or hanbo (lower face). Although not common, we offer the option of adding byo (rivets) to our Momonari Hachi Kabuto to add extra character and customization ability, making your kabuto more unique to you. This then creates a Byo Momonari Hachi Kabuto as seen pictured with a tengu menpo nose.

The quality of customer service was met equally by the quality of their craftsmanship. The pictures do not do this momonari justice. Very well shaped, assembled and fitted. It looks stunning on display in my office and my clients are always admiring it when they step into my office. I tell them it is represents my warrior spirit which goes into representing them.
All around solid 5 stars!
