Standard Suit Options

Main Armor Color

Select the Color & Finish of your Do (cuirass).
Samurai Chest Do Color & Finish Option by Iron Mountain Armory

Main Lace Color

Select the LACE (Odoshi) Color you would like for your armor. (Click through the product images to see different Lace Colors.)

Mimi-Ito Lace

Select the Vertical and Horizontal ACCENT lacing for your armor set. (If left blank MAIN LACE COLOR will be used) (Image for reference only. Options may differ between classes and models)

Kabuto Style

Hachi Goshozan (on left) and Zunari (on right)

Kabuto Crest

Select to change, customize or remove the front crest (maedate) on the helmet. You can select a standard brass mon (symbol), your own custom mon / logo or a wooden or brass design. Rivet Option

Select to have your Yoroi crafted WITH or WITHOUT Rivets. Image for reference only.

Add Fittings

Add Fittings to the chest only and/or to the Sode (Shoulders) and back including red ropes & tassels.

Agemaki no Kan

These help keep your sode in place.
Recommended if using armor for any combat training.

Fabric Option

Select the Linen Material or Art. Silk Brocade used for your Armor parts.

Leather Option

Select the synthetic leather color to be used on your HAIDATE or LIGHT SUNEATE.
Kachi Iyo Haidate - Vermilion

Suneate Style

Light Suneate - Better suited for Combat and Martial Arts Training
Heavy Suneate - Better for traditional Cavalry and display

Temper Armor Plates

Select to Heat Temper your steel armor plates to Add more toughness. Your armor will be heated to 700 degrees, making it more resilient and less likely to dent or break upon hard impacts. Best for Martial Arts Training, LARP & SCA Sports.

Display Option

Select to add a yoroi bitsu (display / storage box) and portable stand to your order so you can display your samurai armor.
Yoroi Bitsu and Stand

Yoroi Bitsu Mon

Choose to add Samurai or Custom Mon (symbol) to your Yoroi Bitsu (armor box). Custom Mon's needs to be e-mailed to us in a mono-color, “Clip-Art” format.(Click through the product images to see different Standard Mon Options.)

Kabuto Options

Select these options to further customize your Kabuto (helmet).

Fukigaeshi Mon

Add a symbol (mon) to the ears (fukigaeshi) of your helmet. This can be a standard mon or custom design you can email us in "Clip-Art" format. (Click through the product images to see different Standard Mon Options.)

Horn Options

Use this option to add Dear Antlers, Water Buffalo Horns, Wooden Horns or Waki-Date (Flat Wooden Horns) to your kabuto.

Ring Option

Add RING and KNOT to the back of your Kabuto

Visor Option

Customize the visor of your helmet with embosed eyebrows and/or wrinkles.

Menpo Style

Select your choice of face armor available for your yoroi. Standard Menpo option will give you the mustache option, while Hoate will give you a goatee option.

Mustache Style

Add character to your armor by selecting a custom mustache option.(This option is only available with certain mask / nose styles.)

Chest Options

Select from the following options to further customize your Do (chest armor).

Dō Mon

Select the Mon (symbol) to be painted on the front of your Dō (chest plate).(Option Not Available with Suna finish)

Dō Chest Ring

Select to add 1 or 2 Chest Rings (Saihai no kan & Tenugui no kan) to your Dō, used to display tassels or hold a saihai or gunbai. (Select option from the perspective of wearing the armor)

Please Note: Select the option as if you are wearing the armor (Left / Right)

Dō Holding Rings

Add 1 or 2 WAIST RINGS (holding rings) to either side of your Dō (chest plate), used to hold bags, tie a weapon, Gunbai and/or your Sarashi in place. We recommend adding both if you are training in your armor. (Select option from the perspective of wearing the armor)

Add Banner Holder to the back of your Do (chest armor)

Kusazuri Option

This option offers to make your kuzazuri (skirt plate) detachable / interchangeable. Commonly used in the past for fast repair / replacement of the kuzazuri, or removable for fast and quiet movement of troops.

Select to add a Tekko no Suemon (Brass Engraved Emblem on the back of the hand).

Sizing Options

The Sizing Options for your custom samurai armor set.

Chest Size

This option changes the girth size of your Dō (chest armor). While inhaling deeply, have an assistant wrap the tape measure under your armpits around the largest part of your chest. In the back, you want the tape measure to wrap across your shoulder blades. The tape measure should be snug, but not tight.

Please Note: Sizing is for reference only and may not reflect the final product. Please read the FAQs for more details.

Please Note: It is better to select 1 size larger to accommodate under clothing.

Height Options

Adjust the armor to your Height. Standard sizing is 5' 8" (175 CM). Select the option closest to your actual height. If unsure, select 1 size smaller and enter your actual size in the order comments.

Please Note: It is better to select 1 size shorter for better fit.

Weight Options

Please specify YOUR WEIGHT for our armorers to better craft your armor for you.
Please select the option that is the closest to your weight, as this doesn't have to be completely accurate as this is for reference only.

Accessory Options

Select accessories to add to your custom samurai armor order.

Add Sarashi Belt

Add a long cloth belt / sash to your order which is required when wearing your armor.

Add Waraji Sandals

Add traditional straw sandals to your order. Great accessory to have if your planning on wearing your samurai armor set!

Add Tabi Socks

Add traditional tabi socks to your order. Great accessory to have if you plan to wear your armor.

Shikoro Bottom Plate

If you would like to change the color of the BOTTOM PLATE of your Shikoro, you may select it here. If not it will match the option your provided above.(This option should only be chosen if you would like the neck plates to be a different color than those of the main Helmet.)

Tare Bottom Plate

Select the color & finish your Tare Bottom Plate (Suso no ita) will be painted.

(This option should only be chosen if you would like the throat plates to be a different color than those of the mask.)

Sode Bottom Plate

Description

The Akai Oni Samurai were elite Kachi samurai. They were guided into battle by their Gashira Akai Oni Samurai leaders. These elite samurai were chosen for the honor and heroism. Their armor was painted a crimson suna or vermilion which gave them the name “Akai Oni” (Red Demon). After winning many battles, the elite warriors of the Takeda Clan grew in notoriety and number. They are remembered as one of the most famous and powerful warriors of Feudal Japan.

Our apprentice Kachi katchû-shi (Japanese armor smith) will craft this stunning reproduction suit of samurai armor with an economical means. Now, even a budget minded samurai can join the ranks of the elite Akai Oni, and share in their prestigious history. You can even add a yoroi bitsu (armor box) to your order. Use the stand which comes with the box to display your armor with pride. This particular samurai suit features Kiritsuke Iyozane (simulated scale), sode (shoulder guards) and kusazari (defensive skirt plating).

Full sized and fully functional.

Our skilled katchû-shi (armorers) at the Iron Mountain Armory will need at least 2 to 4 weeks, depending on options selected, and other scheduled orders, for the custom handcrafting of your yoroi.

Compared to Japanese made armor I would rate this suit of armor at 4 stars; maybe 4 1/2. But because of the difference in price, one can not compare it in such a fashion. The materials (silk, cotton and lacing) is better quality, but at the same time my Japanese suit of armor, which was similar in design, was $900 more expensive. I would estimate the difference in the quality of materials would be maybe $100, which doesn’t justify the extra cost fee of the $800 marked up by the Japanese armory. Now Iron Mountain Armory keeps improving their products (as they say and it shows in their pictures and videos), so with a few small upgrades in the materials, the armor should be almost identical to the Japanese made armor at about 30% less.

So in summery, Japanese made armor is a little better quality, but in price range, this Chinese made armor is very impressive and well worth the price, making this armor a much better deal. 5 Stars!
